[Review & Recap] Mad Men: Season 5 Episode 11 "The Other Woman"
The other woman in this episode isn’t an actual woman, but a Jaguar. It’s no coincidence that men often refer to their cars with feminine pronouns. To boot, when they’re searching for their youth in old age they usually wind up with one of the two — a new (and usually younger) woman or a new car. SCDP’s vy for the Jaguar account in episode 11 closely parallels a man’s obsession with the unattainable; that which appears just beyond his grasp. The concept is demonstrated in the agency and their car account, Jaguar exec Herb Rennet and Joan, and even Don and his beautiful but impractical young wife. Read more
