[AUDIO] T.I. Talks Gun Laws & Hip-Hop
T.I. is no stranger when it comes to firearms and the laws surrounding them, especially when looking back to his 2007 arrest in which he was charged with possession of illegal machine guns and silencers.
With the recent gun related deaths, most notably the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newton, CT in December of last year, a lot of pressure has been put on President Obama and his office to take action even up to the idea of an banning ownership of a firearm by the public. Fresh off the release of his latest album, Trouble Man which dropped December 18th, DJ Buck and Nancy Borrow of Hot 97.3 got to talk to T.I. who felt that “the complete overall ban of firearms [is] a bad idea simply because if you do that, then you say the only people who are going to have guns, are the ones willing to break the law to keep them. That means you are putting the guns in the hands of only the criminals.”
A complete ban really is a big step and instead of just commenting on the situation, T.I. also thought that renewing of a gun license “just like a driver’s license” could be something that might help with the criteria of the law. Definitely a good point. While the ban of firearms is an idea right now, Vice President Joe Biden is set to address the issue and give a proposal that could effect future guns laws later today.
