[Interview] Mac Miller Updates On Lord Finesse Lawsuit; Still Seeking Resolution

For a rapper from the new school, Mac Miller is one that continues to pay homage to the MCs that paved the way. Talk to Miller for a couple minutes and he’ll talk about wanting his fans to know who A Tribe Called Quest is or why he wants to work with someone like DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Talk to him about Lord Finesse and you’ll see Miller’s mood visibly changed. The leader of the Digging In The Crates collective filed a seven figure lawsuit over a sample Miller used on his breakout mixtape, KIDS. Miller says he talked to Finesse recently and personally, the pair are cordial.

“I talked to him. Me and him are cool. Everything is cool. It’s a serious situation but ive tried my best to make light of it all,” he told TheWellVersed and 2DopeBoyz.

Despite the civility, Finesse is still pushing forward with the lawsuit.

“It’s still happening,” Miller continued. “We spoke. I don’t know how he feels about me on Twitter. It’s a shame. I wish for the best for both of us. I’m not trying to be homeless, which is what would be happening if he won. I hope we can figure something out and everyone can be happy.”

Miller says he was “fucked up” by the whole lawsuit because Finesse was instrumental in Miller wanting to rap.

“[Big] L was the reason I picked up a pen in the first place. He was the one that put L on.”
