[Video] NBA 2K13 Executive Produced By Jay-Z; What Does That Mean?

Life+Times released a new trailer announcing that Jay-Z will be “Executive Producing” the upcoming NBA 2K13 game. What the hell does that mean? We have no idea. The trailer features music from Jay-Z so perhaps it means that the soundtrack will be overseen by Hov and feature songs by himself and those affiliated with him. Whether that means new music or select songs from his extensive catalog is yet to be seen but our money is on a soundtrack that will further enhance the reach of the series. It’s doubtful that he’ll have anything to do with the gaming aspects but the music makes much more sense.

It’s another coup for 2K Sports after trampling the competition with Michael Jordan as the cover athlete in NBA 2K11 and including even more legends in NBA 2K12. With EA Sports struggling to make a comeback, 2K has their sights set on taking over as the best sports game, period. Considering that Madden simply hasn’t been all that great for the past half decade, it’s not too far of a stretch to say that NBA 2K has become the choice game of all hip-hop fans.

We’re excited about the latest installment with or without Jay-Z, but the affiliation certainly piques our interest.
