This Week In Music Videos: Liquorice, Ray Bans & Gold Teeth

A lot of big budget music videos hit the net this week, and we’ve got too much to say to restrict our opinions to an informative short paragraph. Commenting on everything from a popsicle sucking Azealia Banks to a bejeweled B.o.B, we’re (TheWellVersed’s own DJ Hourglass and Andre Grant) giving you our candid opinions on the latest visuals.

Azealia Banks – “Liquorice”

Andre: Really, I’m just sad to see Santi give up the Queen of the hipster rap scene title without so much as a whimper. And, as much shit as Miss “212” talks is as much as she’s putting her foot up these other rappers arses. Fairly complex rhyme schemes over dance beats? That’s not exactly novel. Not these days. The video? It ain’t exactly “L.E.S Artistes” but the whole wild west themed, Celine Dion slow-motion bend back thingy was so absurdly out of place it made me legit LOL. Plus, I have to give her credit for the pointy hook hands gloves circa my favorite show from MTV Oddities, The Maxx!

Rating: Visual masterpiece/I’d watch it again/Ehh…/4 minutes I can’t get back/I’d rather watch 2 Girls 1 Cup

Hourglass: Everytime I try to count Azealia out because of her bridge burning tweets, she puts out something dope. She’s creating her own lane by rhyming hardcore lyrics over dance beats and this video is exactly what I’d expect from a rapper who hangs out with European fashion elite. I’ve also got to give her a plus for having that weave laid a lot better this time. Chalking points for all of the phallic food scenes. Is squeezing the life out of a hot dog supposed to be sexy?
