Charlie Ward Plays In The NBA

Yeah, we said it. Following a stellar career at Florida State in which he won the 1993 Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, Davey O’Brien Award and a National Championship, Ward took his talents to the NBA. Though Ward played on the FSU basketball team, his talent was more on the football field than on the basketball court. Ward pretty much made the decision for NFL teams when he declared that he wouldn’t play unless selected in the first round of the 1994 NFL Draft. He wasn’t, so he played for the NBA Knicks. Ward played 11 years, but was basically the 9th scoring option during a career that saw him average 6 points a game. For the record Ward threw for a total of 5679 in his two years at FSU but scored only 3,947 in his 11 years in the NBA.
