[Interview] Sex Week: Belladonna - Life, Love and Sex (Pt 2)
TWV: Does she know about your career in adult films?
Bella: No. What she knows is that her mom and dad make movies only adults are allowed to see. She’s far too innocent to put two and two together. She thinks I’m an aerialist, a dancer, an actress…I think she thinks we make scary movies because only adults can watch those. Plus, she’s also joined me on an independent mainstream movie set and saw the alien ears and masks and things like that.
TWV: Would you approve of her going into the industry when she’s of age?
Bella: Absolutely. That’s her choice. I’d always and want to communicate with her and express the way I feel– but once she’s 18 that’s her choice. If she decided to get into the porn industry I would tell her the first thing she needs to do is research. Then I’d tell her about my own experiences. I’d want to be her agent. If she’s going to do it; she should do it right. Do I think it’s right for everybody? Absolutely not.
TWV: On December 10th last year you tweeted “Being a mother and having a career in porn has it’s challenges. And today I experienced one of those challenges. I have to be strong!” – What happened?
Bella: One day my daughter had a play date and the child’s mother came over and we started talking and you know how that goes – she asked “So, what do you do for a living?” and I’m always very honest. I said “We own and operate an adult entertainment production company” and then I went on to talk about how I’m also an aerialist etc., and nothing else was said about it…but then the next day I got a phone call from her husband, who wasn’t there at the time; he called me and brought up some questions. It was never negative, but he had a lot of questions like “Does your daughter know what you do? Do you talk about what you do around her? Do you keep the movies at your house?” And he was nice about it; he said they like to consider themselves sex-positive people and they didn’t want to judge people in the industry –but for me it was a taste of things to come. Even though I like to think that in the end if people don’t like what I do it doesn’t matter – it was heartbreaking for me because it really made me feel what the future might be like as my daughter gets older, and her friends become older, and things are a little bit more apparent… I guess that’s just one of the many challenges I might have to face.
TWV: Some people question how a married couple can survive working in the adult film industry – is it too personal to ask about the agreement the two of you have in regards to sex with other people? Has jealousy ever been an issue?
Bella: Oh my God, jealousy is my issue – not Aiden’s. I am the jealous one when it comes to sex and everything else. He’s not jealous as long as I’m working or he’s there in the situation. Our agreement is that he doesn’t have sex with anyone else, and I only have sex with other people when it’s for work, or when we decide to {be with other people} together and he watches. I don’t think we’ve ever sat down and said ‘This is our agreement’ – but that might be a good idea {laughs}. But we’ve talked about it a little.
Aiden is definitely the more secure person, and the more stable, and he’s my rock – he keeps me grounded. Well, he tries at least. I get a little out of control {laughs}.
