[Interview] Sex Week: Belladonna - Life, Love and Sex (Pt 2)

In the conclusion of our two part sit down with Belladonna discusses pushing her body to the limit, whether she’d support her daughter getting into the business and why she was terrified to start directing. (Editor’s Note: TRIGGER WARNING, issues of rape discussed in this interview)

TWV: When I told some of my friend’s I’d be interviewing you, the first response from most of them was “You have to ask about ‘the bat scene’”

{Author’s note: the scene in question is from the 2002 adult film, No Limits 1, in which Belladonna inserts several inches of a baseball bat into her anus}

Bella:{laughs}

TWV: So, when talking about the more extreme acts you’ve performed– For instance…the infamous ‘bat scene’ –at some point does it stop being about pleasure and become more about performing amazing feats of the human body? A carnival show of sorts?

Bella: You know, I have to say yes. Looking back at my career now after being in the business for so long I realize that for a huge portion of my career I was trying to prove something. I wanted to show people what I was physically capable of, and also myself. I wanted to see how far I could push myself. I wanted to see how far I could go. But I also have to mention, in most of my relationships throughout my life I’ve been a very big ‘pleaser’, and very much into the idea of doing things that turn my lover on. And during that scene I was with my boyfriend at the time, Nacho; we were in Prague — he was a director and I was new to directing. I don’t know, we’d just have these random ideas pop into our head and we’d just do them. This one time we were at a store and he saw a baseball bat and was like “Oh my God, we should put this in your ass” and I was like “alright”. And the baseball bat, really, was no bigger than his dick. It was pretty much the same {thickness} – everyone always says stuff about that scene, but to me it really wasn’t that extreme. Yes, it looked very extreme, but if you looked at Nacho’s dick and looked at the baseball bat it was pretty much the same thing {laughs}. That was something I was doing to turn on my lover – and that excited me, knowing that he was so turned on by what I was doing.

TWV: Is it a false stereotype that most/all women in porn have had some sort of emotional damage or early childhood sexual trauma ?

Bella: I don’t know all these girls personally enough to know – but look at any job out there and show me one person who doesn’t have any emotional damage or problems. We’re all dealing with something. So yeah, I do think it’s a false stereotype. I’ve met a lot of girls who really just enjoy sex. I can’t say I know all of them personally that well, but it has to be a false stereotype because they’re just assuming. Just because there’s sex involved it becomes different. Really, the adult industry is business just like any other.

TWV: What about your own experiences?

Bella: In my own experience –I have not ever been sexually abused. I don’t have sexual trauma.
