[The Tens] 10 Dope Female Emcees NOT Named Nicki Minaj To Watch In 2012

Reema Major

First of all, don’t get this cute little girl confused with somebody who can’t rap her face off. Yes, she’s only 16 and you may expect her to be screaming over Diggy Simmons, but Reema Major is not to be f*cked with on the mic. The Sudanese-Canadian teenager is far beyond her years and is certainly not into the kiddie rap that a 16-year-old might be expected to kick. With three mixtapes under her belt, a deal with Universal Music Canada and an appearance in the 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher, we anticipate big things for the sweet looking little girl.

They say intelligent music is just too hard to market,
I know so many Moors that I cant even hardly count them,
The people asking for God Hop so imma give it to them,
I build a nation thru the speakers in your living room,
I never dumb it down, later for the A&R’s,
Supreme team make the biggest crew look miniscule!

I can legitimately say, I’m not surprised. I have heard every one of these chicks with the exception of Siya. Some thoughts:

I would take Siya, Uzoy, Reema, and Raven. The rest could kick rocks.

Why exactly am I supposed to be watching for Nina B in 2012? Will this year be any different for a chick that absolutely could not make noise in any of the five preceding years? She matters now? Mind you, I think her flow is cold, but man… She’s like the female Sha Stimuli.

Late pass on Nitty. She was out LAST year… I must say… Not impressed. Rhymey rhyme rhyme rhymer… No content.

The rest are basically all gimmick and no substance. Iggy never would’ve made anybody’s radar had they basically not already been looking for ANY other white, female rapper to just NOT BE KREAYSHAWN… Oh dear lord, anybody but Kreayshawn. She’ll go the same way as Sarai, Northern State, and that short British chick whose name escapes me.

and to the fella above me, no. Your dear personal friend should not have made the list. No one has heard of her generically-named ass. Or ever will. Chill, son.

I’m stoked a list like this even exists, excluding one of the most lethal emcees in the game right now, man or women, Nicki Minaj. But how are you not going to have NIKKIYA in there? C’mon yo, did you not hear ‘Cheater’ or her new joint ‘Sailing,’ the chick has got mad hooks, real Hip-Hop, smooth RnB or even some hyphy as electro club sounding ish, she can flip it all styles & can rap 16′s too. Check the remix of her joint ‘When I Was High’ featuring Tech N9ne, the original was actually intended to be submitted for Eminem’s album but she decided to keep it for herself. Or the Yelawolf featured ‘SpeakHerSex’ or the banging ‘Titanic’ if you don’t know, now you know! Get her free mixtape ‘SpeakHer’ can’t forget the video for ‘Cheater’ either, its straight fire.
