[The Tens] 10 Reasons Why Drake & Common Are Better Off As Friends

Let’s admit it, the Common-Drake beef is nonsensical. With this beef between fashion impaired individuals captured our attention once Common dropped “Sweet,” we all wondered how far it would actually go. Go figure, Drake slipped in some subliminals on “Stay Schemin’” and Common wasted no time taking the direct approach with his own version of the song. But let’s be real here, this “beef” is about as threatening as a schoolgirl pillow fight. The reality is that these two probably have more in common than you think. Here are ten reasons why Common and Drake are better off being BFFs than lukewarm enemies.

YO ANDREAS HALE THIS OPINION YOU HAVE IS WEAK AS FUCK. 1ST OFF NO ONE BELIEVES DRAKE IS GANGSTA IN ANY WAY SO I AGREE THERE. BUT JUS BECAUSE COMMON IS POLITICAL, CONSCIOUS & WELL SPOKEN DOESNT TAKE AWAY FROM HIM BEING DOWN FOR THE CAUSE. HE’S FROM THE CHI AND LETS REMEMBER HE WENT AT CUBE WHO WAS A GANGSTA RAPPER. SO DOWNGRADING A MAN JUST SO PEOPLE CAN READ THIS WACK ARTICLE IS LAME. I BET YOU WOULDNT SAY THIS TO COMMONS FACE EITHER THOUGH

is this serious? Common a 4CH, listen to his older albums. Common went at Ice Cube, Farrakhan had to end it.

Usually the 10s are on point but I have some disagreements – Drake and Common are vastly different. Common is a MC first then an actor v. Drake is wheelchair Jimmy and his taps that have no substance. Allow the battle to happen stop trying to paint a picture yourself, that’s the problem w/rap nowadays.

This was a poor man’s version of Big Ghost Face’s schtick. In order for it to work you have to touch on truths. The only thing these two have in common is they are light skinned and sometimes wear goofy clothes (well, a lot of the time for Drake).

Common is an MC that acts. Drake is an actor portraying a rapper. Drake uses ghostwriters to come up with “quotables” but has nothing really to say. I don’t believe for a second Drake cares about the culture or hip hop . People will regret co-signing this dude. He is a fraud. Talks and carries himself completely different when he’s not on camera. He takes off the “rapper” persona like a wig each night. And he thinks he’s tough because he has a crew and YM.

Common, on the other hand, is a true lyricist and poet who has made classic CDs throughout the years and has always been somewhat undervalued commercially. He’s respected though and his latest CD is stellar.

Ok this shit was ULTRA LAME!!!! It wasn’t even ‘hardly’ funny at all. After reading several articles on this site I’m convinced that you guys are seriously falling off. I don’t like the new format and all of your writers seem to have no opinion of their own. Much like hiphop music of today, they all sound the same. Please save yourself the embarassment and take this garbage ass piece of shit so called ‘article’ down and find some better writers.

I listen to both artists I’m from a younger generation, yet I grew up listening to Common, any fan of Common knows that his Beef with Ice Cube did not make him a grime trill individual he was only holding his ground. Secondly, Drake has shown a love for hip-hop before the acting phase, he spent around 200 (a lot to spend for any child that is not rich) on a microphone he thought belonged to Pusha T. Neither of there rappers are hardcore rappers, yet I don’t agree with this mediocre written piece that belittles both of these artists. I hate false allegations though that sound worse than this written piece by saying Drake has a ghostwriter just because he is able to make good music without being Hood.

The Common Sense of “Soul by the Pound” and “Can I Borrow a Dollar” was hardcore as fuck. Everyone is allowed to grow up in their 30s, in fact, anyone who still listens to only straight gangsta shit at the age of 35 could be considered a little pathetic. The difference between the two couldn’t be more marked. Common is a ghetto cat who matured and got an education, Drake was a pussy’ole from day 1. To quote the aforementioned “Soul By The Pound”: “You’re wack, that’s the only thing that’s Black, Scooter, While we was on the streets, you was home with your computer…” from the mouth of the horse…

Common started the beef on Sweet- which was aimed at Drake (and he did admit to that). Drake never said stay schemin is about Common, nor has he ever said Common’s name. Common’s a punk ass for starting it to sell him his album…and then when Drake doesn’t respond to the stay schemin’ remix, Common says he just did it because he thought he was being targeted by Drake and that he thinks Drake is a talented artist. Are you fuckin kidding me? Common’s gonna go and diss drake and ADMIT to it being about drake, and then when drake drops a verse that could or could not be about Common, hes gonna go and do a diss track and say his name THEN say he’s talented after? Common’s a fake ass pussy that’s just trynna sell records. Drake couldn’t have said it any better: “Back when if a nigga reached, it was for the weapon / Nowadays niggas reach just to sell their record”
