[The Tens] Hi! My Name Is: Grading 10 Hip-Hop Name Changes

6. Killer Mike to Mike Bigga

In effort to appeal to a bigger fan-base and move to a bigger stage, the ATL rapper changed his moniker from the murderous “Killer Mike” to the large and in charge “Mike Bigga” in 2009. Of the name change, Mike said that his eyes were opened by some fans who wondered why he so slept on and perhaps the “Killer” part was holding him back.In the words of the emcee: “You can’t get corporate sponsorship with that.”

Grade: Fail (The name change hasn’t changed anything and just sounds silly for a rapper of his magnitude)
