The hip-hop game is no stranger to aliases, nicknames and pen names. Artists are who they are and they get bored, so name changes are inevitable. Look up any rapper or producer and you might find at least three aliases that either they or we refer to them by. The Notorious Big was “Biggie Smalls,” Guru was “Baldhead Slick”, shoot even Kanye is the “Louis Vuitton Don.” Aliases happen, but sometimes it’s taken a step farther and artists flat out change their names. Whether they caught a case or caught a case of boredom, we at The Well Versed present Hi! My Name Is: Grading Ten Hip-Hop Name Changes. Did these artists pass or fail with their new names?

ive been giving it some thought and i think Yessin Bey is cool lol… n sk8brd for Pharrell thats just lame but i guess its jus like when ppl call him… Skateboard P.. i think that would sound a lot better then “Sk8brd” lol
Feel like you forgot the most obvious one: Tupac Shakur (2pac) to Makaveli
way to stay current, jackass.
What about when ODB changed his name to Dirt McGirk (or something like that) right before he died?
you forgot the crazy one, The Game to Game. hahaha
honorable mention should have gone to Chad Ochocinco…but meta did drop what some may consider an album…
