[The Tens] Too Hype? The 10 Most Over Hyped Rappers Of The Last Five Years
The hype machine has gotten many artists buried before they even got their respective careers started. You have artists whose image precedes the talent and then when you hear the music you realize it really sucks (we call this “The Bamboozled Hype”). Then you have the talented who are branded to be something that they can never achieve (we call this “The Detox Hype”). Finally, you have those artists that everyone allegedly likes, but when you ask around, nobody really likes them. Those that do, only like them because they think everyone else does (we call this “The Lemming Hype”).
Hip Hop has become increasingly suspect when it comes to hyping up rappers who aren’t as good as people would like you to think. It’s even more baffling when credible rappers cosign these kind of talented acts. So we decided to drop this list of our ten most over hyped rappers (with an overhype rating from 1-10) and we’re sure that their fans will brand us as haters for reasons they don’t even understand. That’s what the hype machine does.

The rest of them make sense but Kid Cudi doesn’t belong anywhere near this list. I’d say he is closer to underrated than overrated. The guy knows how to make a song, if anything Kanye has taken some inspiration from him over the past 3 or 4 years. And Yeezy is one of the best to ever do it.
Years from now Cudi on this list will look more ridiculous than it does now. Just my thoughts.

I kind of disagree with this WHOLE situation. These arent even hype rappers. Lol , Try Chief Keef , Juicy J , Waka , Project Pat , and others in THAT department. In NO way is Kid Cudi hype … df . I agree with OJ Da Juiceman, and its not just because of his name ,which OBVIOUSLY has a deeper meaning. Idk if youve ever listened to his actual stuff but you should.
