New Outkast Album Next Year?
Whether you favor Andre 3000 or Big Boi, since 2003’s release of Speakerboxx/The Love Below, we’ve all been wondering the same thing. When do we get another Outkast album? Yesterday Hip Hop Wired reported our wait is almost over.
When it comes to best and favorite MC conversations, Andre is in most top 10, and even 5 lists. Big Boi usually follows a little down the line, and as Outkast, the pair is indisputably one of the best hip hop groups of all time. After the success of Big Boi’s solo debut, Sir Luscious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty, he’s no doubt risen in the ranks and proven himself without the charismatic brilliance that is Dre overshadowing his skills.
With four arguably classic albums under their belts, the unprecedented double CD completed the cosmic journey that began in Stankonia, and solidified the group’s status as visionaries. They had evolved artistically and blossomed into something much more complex than their foundation of beats and rhymes, and have since had the masses desperate for more.
Hip Hop Wired’s exclusive report on their upcoming projects breathed new life into that desperation. Apparently one of their sources has an in with the Atlanta based duo, and according to them, not only can we expect solo projects from both Andre and Big Boi by fourth quarter, but an Outkast album by early next year. Hip Hop Wired’s “rock solid industry source” stated:
“Outkast is on track to release a new album by early next year. Both Dre and Big are working on solo projects; they want those out by the end of 2011.”
We’ve only heard Andre’s voice once this year; and on the somewhat lackluster “Party” from Beyonce’s new opus, 4. Still, it whet our appetites and we’re even hungrier. Fingers crossed this one isn’t a rumor folks.
