When speaking on great producers in hip-hop, the names DJ Premier, Just Blaze, Kanye West and Dr. Dre often come up. But there are a group of producers who create just as good (if not better) production. They just don’t have the same notoriety for whatever reason. While they often go unheralded, TheWellVersed has decided to honor them for their great work behind the boards.

Best list i’ve seen in a long time. Maybe ever! I know and love everyone of these producers on this list. I really hope they get the shine they truly deserve one day soon….

Dope list, but how can you forget about Apollo Brown?!!! Gas Mask was imo the best album of 2010
None of these dudes are underrated. They get mad props. Cats like Tru Masta, Battle Cat, Wajeed, De la, Buckwild, Bronze Nazareth, Floyd the Locsmif, Illastrate, Rico Wade, Sleepy Brown, Lewis Parker, FS Green….check, these are some of the ripest producers around and most still don’t know who they are or their work….
Apollo Brown!!!! That dude is a BEAST. His new album is CRAZY. No Ski Beatz either???

Kno & Exile definitly deserve more love. And Black Milk is going straight to the top. Nice to see Mr. Porter on there too, don’t think people realize how many hits he actually has. Those 4 guys aren’t just best underrated producers though, they’re overall at the top tiers too. Great list
Yeah some Rhymesayers love with Ant & Jake One should be on it though.
Da Beatminerz, DJ Scratch, Ski Beatz and 9th Wonder are all pretty underrated but they are pretty established and this is list is only for 10 not 15 or 20

Cool list. There are a lot of Dope producers, its hard to just list 10. But like someone eluded to earlier i dont think some of these cats are underrated. Black and flying lotus are always getting talked about for their work. Nic is very versatile and makes great LP’s I think that is over looked when it comes to this list. Some of these cats make dope tracks but a great producer can make a great LP I know Nic has done that a few times i cant say the same for everybody on this list. I like King Midas from H.I.S.D. 14kt, and if you put flying Lotus in the hip hop cat then i would say Afta 1 as well. Dope list though just my 2 cents
