Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele Says GOP Needs More "Brothers"
It doesn’t take a genius to realize the many differences between the Republican and the Democratic National Committees; among them the racial makeup of the political parties.
While contributing factors may be more economically and socially driven than anything, it still translates into one thing: there aren’t many black people in the GOP. And the GOP knows it.
On a recent episode of the Hardball With Chris Matthews on MSNBC, ex chairman Michael Steele noted, “We could have used a few more brothers in the house; there’s no doubt about that.”
In fact, he even mentioned that diversity and inclusion of the party was one of his objectives while in office.
“What I tried to do was to broaden the landscape over which we could play, go into neighborhoods where we needed to be in but hadn’t been in generations, and I think it made a difference.”
Not that much of a difference, but at least he tried.
