Did Soulja Boy Lie About Writing Willow Smith’s ‘Whip My Hair?’
Once again Soulja Boy Tell’em’s Twitter timeline is the subject of debate. Last week the 20 year old rapper alleged to have penned the high spirited “Whip My Hair” for entertainment royalty Willow Smith.
“YES ITS TRUE I WROTE “WHIP MY HAIR” FOR WILLOW SMITH. THATS WHY SHE SAYS HOP OUT THE BED TURN MY SWAG ON. WE GETTING $$$ 2011 NO GAMES,” Soulja said via Twitter.
Ronald “Jukebox” Jackson and Jane Rockwell; the writers credited for the song, were not amused. Jukebox struck back on Wednesday, rendering the claims laughable.
“Awww shit, its on blog sites now???!! lmao. Soulja wrote whip my hair??. . and waka flaka wrote “thriller” right? lol. My house must be POPPIN! cuz i had NO IDEA Soulja was in my house when i did that song! #invisibleswag??”
Dubious activity is not unheard of on Soulja Boy’s Twitter account; still “Whip My Hair” does open with a line from DeAndre’s hit anthem “Turn My Swag On.” After recent reports that the rapper trademarked, and received writing credits for the phrase “hopped up out the bed, turned my swag on,” there may be come truth to his tweet after all.
