Slim the Mobster Talks Writing Over 200 Records For “Detox,” “Kush” & Details On Dr. Dre’s Swan Song

One day writer/rapper Slim da Mobster drove to Dr. Dre’s studio and dropped off a CD with his phone number scrawled on a lottery ticket. The rest is history.

Slim called in to Houston 97.9 The Box (KBXX) and offered radio personality Devi Dev more support of Dre’s claim in the December/January issue of XXL – Detox is just over the horizon in 2011.

Aftermath Entertainment’s current artist roster is a third the size of its former artists. Still, Slim is as confident as the “A” tatted on his back that he’s on the label to stay, and the proof is in the publishing. The first released single from Detox, “Kush” is one of 200 songs Slim has penned for the project.

The final playlist will boast twelve tracks; one for every step to recovery, and according to Slim, listeners are in for a surprise.

With Detox in its final stages (allegedly) fans can begin to anticipate Slim’s solo project, but don’t expect Detox – The Sequel.

“My album is not gonna be a Detox album you know what I mean, because we’re two different people, we talking about two different things entirely.”
