Jack Davey Presents LadyTrippeR

I’m sure everybody is already familiar with the super music duo known as J*Davey, but did you know that Jack Davey, the heroine of the group is also a fashion designer? We recently caught up with Jack on a little Q&A session.

TWV: I just noticed something! Your name is Jack Davey and the line is called Lady Tripper is there any reference to Jack Tripper from Threes Company?
Jack Davey: While I am quite fond of the late, great John Ritter, no, this is simply a coincidence… I think .

TWV: Well, what’s the inspiration behind Lady Tripper?
JD: I’m enamored by summer music festival style , it’s free & ethereal. Sometimes naked, yet boldly accessorized with a head piece or some wild feathers. Psychedelic drugs & Timothy Leary tapes. Cross country road-trips & Native American art. Late 1960s New York City art scene androgyny. Sex. A romp in an early 20th century French Victorian boudoir. All of that & more .

TWV: How does your music play a part in the ideas for the line?
JD: I started creating signature pieces for our stage show; the sheer lace trousers are a direct reflection of the sexual undertones in the music. They also reinforce the psychedelic nature of our live performance. It’s important for me to use my music as a way to flaunt my personal style and this brand is me to a tee .

TWV: Do you have any collaborations with other brands in the works?
JD: Fashion design is a new venture for me & there’s so much to learn. So I’m mainly focusing on my own brand right now. Beyond fashion, I’m building a media brand with Brook and our team of young innovators here in LA that will begin releasing music, art, & film/video content in 2011.

TWV: When will see the official J*Davey album be released?
JD: June 2011

TWV: Does your partner in crime, Brook D’Leau, have anything to do with Lady Tripper?
JD: D’Leau has yet to contribute, but i would love to eventually incorporate menswear into the brand & would love his help with that.

TWV: What designers or brands do you like and where do you see Lady Tripper in the next few years?
JD: I love Boxing Kitten & have been really inspired by the line’s journey. Since music currently takes up the majority of my creative time, I want to slowly build the LadyTrippeR brand. Right now, we’re strictly online and at my design partner’s store Suite11 in Pasadena. We plan to be in more stores and boutiques after the new year. In the years to come I only see great things for LT. I’m really excited about it all.

TWV: Do you have anything to say to your fans out there that have been patiently waiting for your album to drop?
JD: Thanks for being patient, tried and true. We’re coming for u babies.

TWV: Do you have any upcoming shows?
JD: We’re negotiating a Europe/UK run for early spring, so stay tuned for that .

TWV: Where can we find Lady Tripper?
JD: Visit our website for the online store, blog, and contact info. Also if you’re in the Los Angeles area, feel free to visit Ayanna Bohemia’s boutique, Suite11,  at 2057 N Los Robles Ave in Pasadena , CA for LadyTrippeR classics.

TWV: Where can we follow J*Davey?
JD: Our site is being thoroughly renovated as we speak, so in the meantime please stay tuned to the blog, follow us on twitter and check out our videos.

TWV: Anything else you want to tell is about Lady Tripper or about J*Davey?
JD: There is a new day among us; a new consciousness, style and existential energy. Tap in and trip freely. Long live the TrippeR in us all.

Check out some styles from the Lady Tripper look book and go cop it

Awesome write-up. I love the inspiration behind the line and am excited to hear about the media team. I love when artists take their experiences and spread it through different channels. There is so much more to this group than the music, and I’m glad they are letting us be a part of that.
