[2DBz x TWV Exclusive] Who Is Theo Martins?

Those not familiar with Theo Martins need to acquaint themselves real quick. The Providence, R.I. emcee spits with an avant-garde intellect of a Lupe Fiasco and is on the fast track to success after releasing two acclaimed projects Channel Surfin and You Can’t Do That On Television. TheWellVersed and 2DopeBoyz caught up with Theo to discuss his sound, upcoming projects and who he was surprised to know was a fan of his music.

“This is the stuff I’ve been praying and working for,” Martins says when asked about his rise to success. “To see it happen now is kind of surreal.”

Martins explains that all the acclaim and support has been a humbling experience but one individual in particular had Theo shocked more than others.

“Evidence,” Martins reveals as the Dilated Peoples member showed Theo some love recently. “I’m a big fan of Evidence. His live performances are great. For him to be like ‘I remember you, you have some dope stuff,” that’s crazy and it meant a lot.”

Martins has no plans on waiting to release another project, the Providence emcee plans on performing wherever he can while revealing that he will be dropping another project sooner than later.

“In two or three weeks we have Channel Surfin’ 2 coming,” Martins reveals when asked what’s coming up next for him. “We’ll be dropping some singles leading up to the release. It’s a conceptually driven project. It should be really big. It’s going to be really solid, I promise you that.”
