[2DBz x TWV Exclusive] Rapper Big Pooh Discusses “Soul Bearing” Solo Album & Upcoming Collaboration Project

While one half of Little Brother has been busy with the recent release of the Foreign Exchange‘s Authenticity album, the other half has been relatively quiet when it comes to full length projects. Rapper Big Pooh came clean with TheWellVersed and 2DopeBoyz during a recent interview in regards to a project that he has been working on over the course of the past four years. But before divulging details on the solo album, Big Pooh revealed that an unlikely collaboration album is on its way to fans.

“I’m working on a collaboration project with my man Roc C, the group is called Young Americans,” Pooh says. “The album isn’t titled yet but the first single is called ‘Set It Off’ produced by S1 (Producer of Kanye West’s ‘Power’). We actually have two videos done already.”

For those not aware, Roc C has worked very closely with the Stones Throw family and released an album in 2006 mostly produced by Oh No. The two met through mutual friends and decided to work on a project together. One thing led to another and now the album is on the horizon. But that’s not the only news Pooh had for his fans. Outside of the upcoming “Reservoir Dogs 2″ mixtape, Pooh is putting the finishing touches on his solo album.

“After (the collaboration project), my solo project ‘Dirty Pretty Things‘ is finally coming,” he reveals. It’s a project that has been discussed ever since 2005′s Sleepers was released. But for one reason or another, the album was pushed aside as Pooh worked with Little Brother on their final two albums.

“I started the recording of ‘Dirty Pretty Things’ before we actually started recording (Little Brother’s) ‘Get Back’,” he explains about the long process of completing the album. “I started before ‘Get Back’ then we stopped so we could finish ‘Get Back.” Then we started over. Then I stopped again.”

It would take four different attempts to complete the album until the North Carolina emcee felt that he had finally put all of his blood, sweat and tears into the book.

“What you get (for the 4 years) I started working on Dirty Pretty Things now is what I’ve been working on since the beginning,” he says. “This is probably the most introspective and the most soul bearing stuff (I’ve recorded),” he says. “Even when you listen to it, it’s not necessarily me saying ‘I, I, I” but every story is my story. I’m definitely bearing my soul on this one.”

Look for Young Americans upcoming album, the new “Reservoir Dogs” project and the long awaited Dirty Pretty Things to come sooner than later.
