[2DBz x TWV Exclusive] J-Live Says He’s The First Solo Artist To Break Up On New Album “S.P.T.A.”
With the November 2nd release of J-Live‘s Undivided Attention EP being just a teaser of what’s to come, J-Live spoke to TheWellVersed & 2DopeBoyz about his upcoming album S.P.T.A. (Said Person of That Ability) pronounced Spitta.
“I get all my albums from 5% lessons. From The Best Part to All of the Above,” the emcee who has made his presence felt in the underground circuit since the 90′s explains. “Basically (the new album) talks about what are we going to do as artists and what kind of responsibility do we have. At the very least, speak our truth, speak our minds, provoke thought and inspire listeners to become critical thinkers.”
J-Live has always been known to bring forth interesting concepts on each and every one of his albums. From the patriotic themes in “Satisfied” to the whirling narrative of “One For The Griot,” J-Live never ceases to amaze lyrically. S.P.T.A. proves to be no different with it’s very interesting concept.
“The concept of the album is that I produce, rap and dj – that’s what Triple Threat stands for – I’m taking that and running with it,” he explains. “I’m the first solo artist to break up. The dj, producer and emcee all have creative differences to the point where they really aren’t fucking with each other anymore.”
J-Live’s S.P.T.A. will be released in early 2011 on his own Triple Threat record label.
