[2DBz x TWV Video] J-Live Talks Mid-Term Elections And Supporting Obama
November 2nd is significant to J-Live for two reasons. The emcee/DJ/producer unleashes his Undivided Attention EP upon the masses and reminds him why he is one of the most criminally slept on talents in all of hip hop. The other reason is that November 2nd is mid-term Election Day. And for an emcee who keeps his mind on politics, November 2nd is a very important day. Sure, it’s not the presidential elections, but the mid-term elections are very important in setting the foundation for the next couple of years.
J-Live recently spoke to TheWellVersed and 2DopeBoyz about the November 2nd elections and how important it is to get out and vote.
“Vote against the Tea Party,” J-Live says. “Vote against the right wing because, as a self-employed father of three, I was counting on public option. I’m happy that a lot more people are going to get insured but you got to go hard man. You have to go hard against corporate America, against those that basically control all of the wealth.”
Justice Allah is well aware of the fact that President Barack Obama is in a precarious position right now. With the right wing media constantly beating Obama down and liberals becoming less and less supportive, J-Live says that giving up on Obama is the worst thing we could do. Instead, J-Live says that we should show our support now more than ever.
“I want all of the upset progressives to take that anger and channel it – not necessarily at Obama because there is good reason to channel anger at Obama at what he’s not doing, but appreciate what he’s been able to do so far,” J-Live says. “Recognize that this is a four year term and give him some time to do his thing. Get at these republicans and right wingers for trying to get Obama out of office.”
But don’t get it misconstrued, the emcee who resides in Atlanta isn’t naïve to the fact that neither the Democrats nor the Republicans have the hip hop communities best interests on the agenda.
“I’m not the biggest fan of democrats. Republicans are dicks, democrats are pussies and we’re f*cked!”
